The winter is finally over, that said it hasn’t been like the winters of past, like the rest of the world Sharm didn’t escape strange weather patterns, One day hot, the next cold with some very wet days mixed in for good measure.

Looking forward, the diving season has started well. Manta Ray sightings are being reported from many of the local dive sites around Sharm El Shiekh, with Far Garden and Tower being the hot dive sites to visit. The BIG question on every dive guides mind is When do the whale sharks arrive? Will we get the rich plankton blooms of 2008 that made once rare encounters with these giants of the sea, a daily occurrence?  We will keep you posted.

Starting the “From around the web” category is this wonderful photo story by Thomas P. Peschak, for those not in the know, Mr Peschak is the Chief Photographer of the “Save our Seas” foundation.

Here, Thomas has documented the feeding behaviour of the Manta Rays of Hanifaru marine protected area, situated in the Maldives. Amongst the 200 Manta rays there are a dozen whales Sharks thrown in for good measure. Some fantastic video and inspirational photos, watch out for the close up shot of the manta’s mouth at 03:36 into the video.
